Here's the English translation of the Serenity Jewels review!

Walstraat is one of the oldest and most charming streets in Enschede's beautiful city center. Yet many people easily pass it by. A missed opportunity, because it's home to many lovely shops, restaurants, studios, and galleries. The oldest gallery in Enschede is located at number 13. For almost 47 years, the Beeld & Aambeeld gallery has been showcasing contemporary wall art (het Beeld) combined with body jewelry (het Aambeeld).
Serenity, Jewels
To give jewelry special attention as an art form, the Beeld & Aambeeld gallery traditionally organizes an exhibition at the end of the year dedicated exclusively to contemporary jewelry, usually from a specific country or with a specific theme. This year's theme is titled "Serenity, Jewels." It is a multifaceted exhibition featuring wearable contemporary jewelry, created by 32 jewelry artists. The exhibition was curated by the Argentinian-Dutch jewelry designer Luis Acosta. In the spring of 2025, he called on colleagues worldwide to submit a maximum of 10 pieces of jewelry to respond to the theme of Serenity (serenity, peace, tranquility). From 142 submissions, he then selected 32 artists from 19 different countries.
Galerie Beeld & Aambeeld - art and jewelry. Diverse motivations. Serenity in contemporary jewelry is not just an aesthetic aspect, but a rich interplay of emotions, philosophy, and sustainability. It is therefore interesting to see how differently the artists responded to the invitation. For example, Lily Kanellopoulou even literally reflects the theme in the titles of her tranquil jewelry pieces (Silent Flower Ring), while Lamia Saab responds in the opposite way ("I have not felt serenity in a long time. In this troubled world, there is no peace of mind") and shows orange and bright red rings that scream the words human rights and decency-respect. To name just two examples.
